What do you get when you cross chocolate with a sausage? A chausage of course! Food puns get a big high five on this blog.
The sausage and burger company, HECK have launched this in time for Easter for people with more a sweet tooth.
It’s a gourmet, gluten-free chocolate sausage inspired by the ‘choc salame’ popular across Europe. Costing £10 including delivery, just 500 have been made and they’re available now to order for delivery between 26 March and 2 April 2021 from heckfood.co.uk
The ‘Chausage’ combines gluten-free shortbread and Amaretti biscuits, butter, milk, sugar, sunflower seeds, apricots, glace cherries, raisins and cocoa powder, finished with a light dusting of icing sugar to give it the famous traditional salame finish of its meatier counterparts.
HECK’s co-founder Jamie Keeble says:
We love the idea of the sweet salame that are so popular in chocolate shops across Europe. With the shelves awash with eggs at Easter, we thought we’d have some fun and give the Chausage a go and, if customers like it, it could pave the way for other sweet treats further down the line.
HECK recommend that you slice the Chausage and enjoy with a coffee, cut into rounds and serve with a cream egg for a totally sweet take on the traditional sausage and egg breakfast combo, or go the whole hog and serve with some crispy bacon on the side!
